Process httpsd causing high CPU

Hello,

 

We are encoutring high CPU usage on many 60D Fortigates. The firmware version is 5.2.3.

The process responsible of this high CPU charge is httpsd (screenshot attached).

Killing the process will reduce the charge but after few days, the same issue will start again.

 

Did anyone have the same issue ?

    Hi,

     

    you should really consider upgrading - 5.2.3 was known to be quite buggy. 5.2.10+ is known to be very stable. Also the current 5.4 and 5.6 builds will be better then that.

     

    Don't forget to follow the upgrade path.

     

    FortiOS 5.0 is end-of-life since 2017-05-01

    Hi there!

    httpsd is the service or the daemon from the web server. I´m not sure if is an apache server.

    You´re using that process when you log in from your browser.

    That process could cause a high CPU usage when there are many administrators logged and also the admin time out is set high.

    In other hand, your firmware is not the last one, in fact there are eight firmware releases until tha last one, and one of it could resolve this behaviour.

    For instance, in FOrtiOs 5.2.11 resolves a issue: Bug ID 393969, CPU spikes abnormally several times a day.

    At last, try to avoid using widgets.

    Pd: maybe you should consider downgrade to a fortios 5.0 which is a less resource consumption firmware.

    Hello all,

     

    Thank you for your answers. 

    @Iescudero 

    The problem is not really related to many admins connected at the same time.

    It is noticed on more that 10 Fortigates.

     

    As you said it is more related to a bug as the current firmware is a very old version.

    I will schedule the upgrades and see if it will solve the issue.
