Hey everyone,We currently have a couple of FortiGate VM appliances running FortiOS 7.2.13 and are using FortiClient SSL VPN tunnel mode for client remote access.I understand Fortinet is sunsetting SSL VPN tunnel mode in FortiOS 7.6.3. the business is not ready to pivot off SSL VPN so in the meantime, they want to know whether upgrading to FortiOS 7.4.x is a reasonable short-term bridge (Fortinet’s lifecycl page says says it’ll be supported until March 31, 2028/November 11, 2028). Questions:1. For those who have upgraded, has FortiOS 7.4.x been stable for production SSL VPN tunnel mode?2. Is SSL VPN tunnel mode supported throughout the 7.4.x branch, including later releases such as 7.4.8 or newer, or is there a specific 7.4.x version we should target/avoid?3. Since SSL VPN is hidden from the GUI by default in 7.4, is it still considered fully supported in 7.4.x, or is it more of a transitional feature?4. Can I upgrade directly from 7.2.13 to a 7.4.x release, or should I follow a specifi

We have standardized on using Power BI for reporting metrics on our different systems.  Has anyone created FortiSOAR reports using an external report system like Power BI?  If so, how did you accomplish this?

Please return to the previous page.URL     https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=fortigate Other Websites / Search-Engines with Firefox are working fine. I’m on a FortiGate 61F version 7.4.11 and FortiClient Windows version 7.4.3.I am trying to set up IPSec VPN for my remote users so that I can upgrade the FortiGate (knowing that SSL is no longer supported).  I’m running into trouble with Authentication when it comes to PSK vs Peer ID from dialup group.  What I want is for the tunnel to accept users from a specific local user group on the FortiGate.  My problem is that if I change the Peer Options to Peer ID from dialup group, the Pre-shared Key box goes away.  That’s then a problem on FortiClient since I can't leave the PSK box blank.  Any help on how to solve this?  Thank you! Side Note: I have an IPSec VPN for remote users set up on a different box running 7.6.6 doing exactly what I want.  There are more options for Authentication on that version and I can have a PSK and the tell it to use user group I want.

Hello, the content on the fortigate management interface doesn't load because fortinet's cdn certificate seems to have expired. For example the browser doesn't load the content at https://fos-cdn.fortinet.com/artifacts/fos/7.2.10/b1706/3655.js, if I try to open the url directly in the browser I see  that the domain SSL expired one Oct 30thAnd the cert Is indeed expired

Hello,i have a FortiSwitch running at 7.2.9. There we have a trunk with no name.We want to delete this trunk.Because the name is the reference for every command, we don’t have any possibility.config switch trunk       edit ""        set mode lacp-active        set auto-isl 1        set members "port24"    nextIs there another way to delete this trunk? Thanks

Hello, I apologize in advance if this sounds like a stupid question. I passed the NSE4 Certification Exam on June 18, 2024. I very recently heard that my certification would run out of validity if it’s 2 years old. I have to take the NSE5 Certification Exam, as I was unable to take it before, but I am unsure if my NSE4 Certification is still valid. Please let me know and thanks for your help!

Hello everyone,We are experiencing a minor but frustrating issue with our FortiAuthenticator, and I would appreciate some guidance. Our FortiAuthenticator is configured to synchronize users from Active Directory (AD/LDAP). Under Synchronization Attributes, we have selected Local User for the Sync as option. As a result, whenever a new user is created in AD and synchronized with FortiAuthenticator, the system automatically generates a unique random password and sends it to the user via email. Our goal is to disable this automatic password notification email without affecting the existing AD synchronization or user authentication process.I have searched through the documentation and configuration settings but haven't found a way to disable this specific email notification. The only workaround I have identified so far is modifying the following Replacement Message:Admin Set Random Password for User Email MessageHowever, this would only change the email content rather than prevent the email fr

Is it possible to Gre over Dynamic IPsec between Fortigate & mikrotik. Can any one give me configuration sample for gre over dynamic ipsec for fortigate firewall?

Hi Folks,I want to create an automation stitch so I get an alert. I think I have figured out how to do the emailing etc. However I am struggling to create an automation stitch that creates alert. I want it to alert when clients (per host) exceed a bandwidth limit. I know i can do it for interfaces etc but I wanted to be more specific.ieEmail alert: Host 1.1.1.1 has just exceeded 1gb bandwidth. thanks,Chris.

Hi everyone,Since upgrading my FortiGate 70G from 7.6.6 to 7.6.7, I can't access the admin GUI via my Nginx Proxy Manager. Direct local IP access works perfectly...The initial HTML loads, but all subsequent parallel requests for static chunks and API calls instantly fail after a login attempt. My NPM logs show: 104: Connection reset by peer in SSL handshake while SSL handshaking to upstream 2026/10/10 08:40:08 [error] 937#937: *53149 peer closed connection in SSL handshake while SSL handshaking to upstream, client: 192.168.20.2, server: forti.local.net, request: "GET /favicon/favicon-16x16.png HTTP/2.0", upstream: "https://192.168.1.1:443/favicon/favicon-16x16.png", host: "forti.local.net", referrer: "https://forti.local.net/login?redir=%2Fprompt%3FviewOnly%3D" What I tried (without success):    Restarted the httpsd process.     Forced proxy_http_version 1.1 in Nginx to prevent HTTP/2 connection spikes.     Toggled SNI (proxy_ssl_server_name) and session reuse.     Tried SSL-offloading

Hello everybody,We're considering FortiAnalyzer Cloud for our FortiGate 70G-PoE in a small company (~50 employees). Our main goal is incident response and forensic investigations, e.g. identifying suspicious activity, investigating a compromised device or tracking a potential attacker using firewall logs.As I understand it, the last 100 days of logs are available for analytics and reporting, while logs from 100–365 days are archived.A few questions:How easy is it to search archived logs from 3-12 months ago?Can archived logs be re-indexed for FortiView, analytics, and reporting in FortiAnalyzer Cloud? Is it possible to analyze logs spanning an entire year, or are analytics limited to the most recent 100 days? Is FortiAnalyzer Cloud the right product for our use case, or should we consider something else (e.g. FortiSIEM)? Is there a trial license available to test these limitations before purchasing? Thanks in advance for any pointers!

My question is: How do I configure an email account so that it only sends emails and does not receive them, and so that if someone does send an email to that account, the sender receives a custom notification?Note: This post was machine translated to meet Fortinet Community Guidelines.

Fortigate version 7.6.7 suddenly its appear i tried below command but still same:same i have other fortigate 600G and 61F working fine.config system globalset admin-http-rate-limit-max-requests 0set gui-cdn-usage disableset admin-http-request-header-timeout 0set admin-http-request-body-timeout 0set admin-http-unauthenticated-request-body-timeout 0set gui-login-request-rate-limit 0endKindly confirm the workaround if someone facing this issue.

When I attempt to Telnet into a Cisco switch located downstream of a FortiGate 50G (FG-50G), the Telnet connection fails. However, through cross-testing, I discovered an odd workaround: Whenever I modify any Firewall Policy on the FG-50G (even an irrelevant change, such as removing a service from a disabled policy), the previously failed Telnet connection to the downstream switch suddenly starts working normally.Unfortunately, if the system is left idle for a while, the Telnet connection issue returns.Network Architecture & Environment Setup Upstream & Downstream Switches: Cisco switches, connected via LACP configured to allow all VLANs. Hi,a few days we updated from FortiOS 7.2.13 to 7.6.6.Now we can’t download “*.xlsx” files, because our DLP profile is blocking that. But we have only “*.xls” configured for blocking and not “*.xlsx”.When i remove the “*.xls” pattern, we are able to download “.xlsx” Files again. It looks to me that he is using “*.xls*” when entering “*.xls”. Is this a bug or a expected behavior? What do i need to enter, when i only want to block “*.xls” and not “*.xlsx”?A second problem, when i edit the DLP profile i can’t see the file types and can’t edit them. A other admin who is in the same admin group see 2 more colums in the profile table and is able to edit the file types. I switched on already all features in the feature visibility and cleard the browser cache, but no change. Has someone a hint for me?Kind regardsStefan

Hello all,we have an Exchange Hybrid setup with all our mailboxes on-prem. We need to let graph send emails via Exchange Online but we would need to relay these emails via our Fortimail appliance. So the Exchange Online environment does not send these itself without going through the Fortimail first. We found this in the cookbook:How to integrate FortiMail into Microsoft 365 | FortiMail Appliance and VM 7.4.0 | Fortinet Document LibraryAnd this technical guideline:Technical Tip: Office365 Secure Relay via FortiMail to avoid unauthorized email relay | CommunityAnd it seems like we can’t let graph talk directly to our on-prem Exchange servers:https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/hybrid-rest-support So we wondered how does the Technical Tip from fortinet make sure that we are not risking the relaying of unwanted emails. The authenticated part in the technical guideline does not apply here, no? Because our user mailboxes are all on-prem? And regarding the cookbook: our concern is that w

We use FortiMail’s webmail for IBE secure mail exchange. The Webmail interface allows users to download the de-crypted emails using “save as” without any encryption. These mails are saved as decrypted plain email format (.eml)How can we disable this function in Webmail? Is piping the WebGUI through a reverse proxy/WAF to block this particular button the only way?

If i want to make traffic shaper to prioritize traffic from LAN to host 10.10.10.10 located on datacenter for example, then are i need to create the traffic shapper only for this specific host? Or I need to make another traffic shaper for other traffic with medium priority?

Hi allNothing important or urgent.According to Fortiguard RSS feed about updates, a new version of FAC (8.0.4) has been released over 24h ago. However, I am not seeing any release notes on the fortiauthenticator page or see a download folder for 8.0.4 (so no firmware or release notes there either).Usually it doesn't take that long after a release info to see downloads and release notes. So, I am not sure if I am just impatient.Anyone know if the info and firmware files have been withdrawn? Thanks

We have become aware of the following security advisories regarding a vulnerability in FortiClient:https://fortiguard.fortinet.com/psirt/FG-IR-26-156https://advisories.ncsc.nl/2026/ncsc-2026-0296.htmlWithin our organization, we exclusively use FortiClient VPN-only for Windows. We do not use the full FortiClient client or FortiClient EMS.Therefore, we would like to know whether the vulnerability described in FG-IR-26-156 also affects the FortiClient VPN-only client.Additionally, we would appreciate clarification on the following:* Is FortiClient VPN-only affected by this vulnerability?* If so, which versions are affected?* Which version does Fortinet recommend installing to address the vulnerability?* Is an updated version of FortiClient VPN-only currently available?* Does the VPN-only client update automatically, or do we need to manually deploy the updated version to all our laptops? We would appreciate your clarification so that we can take the appropriate measures if necessary.Kind r

Hi community, I have a question about FAZ logging. Which I can’t seem to find the right answer to and I’m hoping you guys may have experienced something similar.Basically I need to undertake some work on a FAZ VM itself where I don’t want new logs to be ingested to the database for a few hours while I do some work. It will be coming up and down so I don’t want it to start taking new logs when it boots up again.I have about 50 Gates logging to this FAZ and it is not feasible to go to each one and turn off the FAZ logging. I’m ideally looking for something like a pause button on the FAZ if it were to exist. I’m on a VM running 7.4.10. I have seen some recommendations about disabling the port on the FAZ used by the Gates so traffic can’t make it through and using a separate management port to continue to connect to the device which I believe is potentially my only option.Any other thoughts?

Hi Community,I am reaching out because I am hitting a wall with a specific client installation and I suspect a hardware/driver conflict, but I need confirmation or ideas on how to debug this further. The Scenario: I am deploying an IPsec VPN configuration with SAML Authentication (Entra ID / Azure AD).Success: The exact same configuration works perfectly on an HP PC.Failure: It fails consistently on a specific Dell Laptop.Environment (Failing Machine):Hardware: Dell LaptopNetwork Adapter: MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7922 (Wireless LAN Card)OS: Windows 10/11 [Please confirm your OS version here, e.g., 22H2]FortiClient Version: VPN-only Client 7.4.3 (Build 1790) / Hotfix 1.8758The Symptoms:The user starts the VPN connection.SAML Authentication window pops up (Microsoft Entra ID).Authentication is successful. The Issue: Immediately after the auth window closes, the FortiClient status hangs (stalls). It does not establish the tunnel. After a short moment, nothing happens, or the connection attempt si
