"While the investigation is ongoing, the results to date suggest that an unauthorized party entered PNI’s systems and was able to deploy malware designed to capture user input on PNI’s servers that support some of its customers’ websites,” said Kirk Saville, a Staples spokesman. A few items to note: 1) once again, a smaller 3rd party was the source of a breach. don't overlook the security of your partners/providers. 2) although email has been the entry point of choice for many high profile breaches, in this case it appears to have been the (web) servers. don't lose sight of the importance of securing this vector. 3) a breach can happen to anyone. make sure you have detection and response tools and processes in place. This demo shows FortiGate service insertion and automation within ACI, and orchestration by the APIC controller. FortiGate device package contains XML metadata describing Fortinet’s security services. Service Graph Templates assign Fortinet services/policies to traffic between Endpoint Groups belonging to the various application templates. Security policies on the Fortinet FortiGate physical or virtual appliances become attribute of ACI Application Network Profiles (ANP). ANPs define application policies and enforce the Layer 4 - 7 traffic through FortiGate for security firewall protection by using a standard programmatic interface.
Dave Finger, Director of Product Marketing, FortinetYes, there are annual studies that calculate the cost of the average data breach. And yes, within weeks of a major data breach the headlines shift from number of records lost to estimated cost. So it is unsurprising, if troubling, that a recent survey of enterprise executives indicated that the #1 thing they are most concerned about protecting from cyber attack is customer data. However, there are other important aspects to making a business case for improving your security posture. This webcast will discuss what we feel you should be concerned about losing and why…and it’s not just customer records that require costly breach notification.
As headlines continue to publicize the latest cybersecurity attack, one thing remains clear, the need for a higher level of enterprise network security.

From VMware PEX in San Francisco, Jonas Tichenor talks with both companies to find out more about the Fortinet VMX virtual appliance for VMware vSphere.
