Anfang September gingen die 2017er Fortinet Partnerstammtische in die dritte Runde. Den Anfang machte Berlin am 4. September. Danach folgten Hamburg, Dortmund, Köln, Stuttgart, München und Frankfurt. Überall kamen in gemütlicher Atmosphäre Fortinet-Reseller, -Distributoren und -Mitarbeiter zusammen. In den Vorträgen in den ersten beiden Stunden wurden diesmal eine WLAN Case Study und die neuesten Infos für Vertrieb und Technik vorgestellt. GDPR was ratified by member states in April 2016, and goes into effect on May 25, 2018. Although it is an EU regulation, it also applies to any organization –regardless of their physical location – if they collect the personal data of EU residents. The objective of the new regulation is to ensure that adequate protection is incorporated into the process of collecting personal data “by default and by design.” It requires organizations to collect only the minimum amount of data needed for a specific purpose, and to then completely remove it when it is no longer needed. The regulation also defines individuals as the sole owners of their personal data, and not institutions or corporation

WannaCryptOr or "WannaCry" is a new family of ransomware (a cybersecurity threat class that locks computer files and systems unless a payment is made). This threat class is estimated to have cost organizations an estimated $1 billion in ransoms, as attack volume increased 100x from three years ago. Today, INTERPOL announced that a new operation across the ASEAN region, built around threat intelligence provided by Fortinet and other public and private sector security organizations, has resulted in the identification of nearly 9,000 Command and Control (C2) servers and hundreds of compromised websites, including government portals. Fortinet has partnered with INTERPOL over the past two years to assist in identifying and thwarting cybercrime. The European FortiCloud Portal (europe.forticloud.com) is now ready for use. Accounts can now be created directly in either of the two portals. (North America or Europe). Customers are given a choice of which FortiCloud portal they wish to create the account in.   The original URL: https://www.forticloud.com continues to work as always. A new portal https://europe.forticloud.com has been created for customers wishing to use a regional/localised data centre instance. Why have we done this? Previously devices in Europe would be viewed through one central portal, hosted in Vancouver. In an ongoing effort to maximise performance, by viewing equipment through a local portal on the European DC rather than viewing through North America the performance of FortiCloud has been enhanced significantly.   Existing Equipment The majority of devices are registered to the North America Data Centre as that has been the only option for some time. Am 3. November 2016 hieß es nun schon zum elften Mal: Herzlich willkommen zur Fortinet Partner Sync! Diesmal fand die Konferenz im Frankfurter Steigenberger Airport Hotel statt. Das Motto war "Adaptive Cybersecurity from IoT to Cloud". An diesem Motto merkt man schon: Im Fokus stand die technische Leitlinie von Fortinet, die Security Fabric. Diese erlaubt es alle Bereiche des Netzwerks abzudecken, Internet of Things und Cloud eingeschlossen. Zum Motto passend gab es Vorträge aus den verschiedensten Bereichen. Darunter war natürlich Advanced Threat Protection - aufgrund der Verschlüsselungsviren in Deutschland ein riesiges Thema. Es gab aber z.B. auch einen Vortrag aus dem neuen Bereich FortiSIEM. Ein Highlight dieses Jahr war die neu gestaltete Ausstellung. An jedem Stand gab es nun eine live Demo. Zusätzlich wurden über den Tag verteilt drei Führungen durch die Ausstellung angeboten.
