Remove Fortiswitch

Hi all,

I currently have the following setup:

FortiManager Cloud → FortiGate → FortiLink → FortiSwitch
All configuration is pushed via FortiManager templates.

What would be the best practice to safely remove a FortiSwitch from the FortiGate in this scenario?

Thanks.

You can delete the FSW from FMG (and its related template) and push config to the FGT. It should remove the FSW from FGT.

OR

you can delete the FSW from the FGT directly and this will automatically get updated in FMG. You can then delete the related FSW Template.

It’s so easy to forget that you have to delete the VLANs and any references in the firewall policies before the 'Authorize' toggle even becomes clickable for removal.

If anyone is still seeing the switch listed as 'Offline' but can't delete it, try running execute switch-controller get-conn-status in the CLI. Sometimes a ghost session keeps the FortiGate thinking the switch is still technically there, and a quick CLI refresh helps clear those stuck entries.
