Problems with IPSec VPN client

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my IPsec VPN setup. I configured a VPN client using the wizard on my FortiGate 60F (firmware version 7.4.6). I completed all the necessary settings for Phase 1 and Phase 2, and then configured the FortiClient accordingly.

However, when I try to connect using FortiClient, I receive a timeout error. The connection attempt fails without establishing the tunnel.

I've double-checked the configuration, including:

  • Phase 1 and Phase 2 parameters
  • Authentication method
  • Pre-shared key
  • Remote gateway settings

Still, no success. Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have suggestions on what to check next?

for me, when this usually happens i delete the VPN profile from FortiClient and the re-create it and by some magic it then starts to work

Hello

 

are you using SSO?

If yes you must setup custom ike port for SSO auth.

config system global
set auth-ike-saml-port 9443
end

 

Also debug log would help. Sometimes I needed to readd preshared key even I did not change it.
