mDNS printers

We have a FortiWifi 60 firewall (NAT mode). There are several HP printers (HP Color 2600) on the network. Ethernet is built in and the printers use mDNS/Bonjour to broadcast themselves across the network (IP addresses are dynamically assigned). While printing works perfectly on the internal interface, WLAN users can' t see the printers or use them. I am unclear if this is a routing or firewall configuration. Has anyone of this forum configured a FortiWifi for these common printers? If so, could a see a configuration example? Thank you

    Two options: 1) open the policy to ' any' and have one of the users try to get to printer while you sniff the wire. The better option. 2) open port 9100. That' s usually the port that the native HPs use to receive traffic from the network. The quick and dirty, but not foolproof option. Good luck.

    Check the default gateway of the printservers typically they aren' t set or not correctly. Regards, Eric

    The m in mDNS stands for multicast. Is it advisable to allow multicast from internal networks to your wan. There may be instances where you might (ie. routing protocols to remote routers or mDNS from internal to a VPN interface). I believe that allowing multicast through an interface requires cli configuration. At least in later verson of the forti-OS
