Getting started

Hello new to Fortinet. Try to get start with a Fortiswitch. I would like to replace my Cisco L2 Switches with Fortinet but will need to phase them in. 

 

I am currently having an issue with my Trunked(Cisco) Ports. As I am new to this setup I am even having a hard time getting with support. Is there a knowledge base or something I can read up on to get myself familiar? 

 

Anything that can help point me in the correct direction would be great.

You can start by following the FCP - FortiSwitch 7.2 course available on training.fortinet.com.

After that you can use the and FortiSwitch admin guide and FortiLink admin guide (if it is managed by FGT), both available on docs.fortinet.com.

 

Regarding the trunk port, here is how you can create it (if your switch is not managed):

In case your switch is managed by FG then you can do it from the FortiGate's WebUI, under WiFi & Switch Controller > FortiSwitch Ports > New Trunk Group.

    There is a difference on what Cisco calls Trunk and other vendors. In FortiSwitch the port is just configured with a native and a list of allowed VLANs. The term Trunk in FortiSwitch refers to aggregating links (ex. using LACP). You can read more about it in this section of the Administration guide. Since you're not yet familiar with the switch, you can use the GUI as it is more intuitive:
