Does anyone know of any freeware syslog servers that will work with the 100A? Isn' t there a way to just capture the data and use Crystal or something to create your own reporting? John

3cdaemon is free and I think available on the fortinet ftp server. (It' s a 3com product) It doesn' t have all the fancy features the kiwi one has though. If you want a real syslog server, Linux is free too PS: 3cdaemon is also a tftp server and client and a ftp server.

If you look in the Linux direction you can integrate syslog with a alert mechanism like JFFNMS or OpenNMS if you are looking to have syslog tell you when something critical happens. That way you can know when your Fortigate decides to top out it' s CPU resources and stay that way. If you' re looking for traffic analisis kiwi or any other plain old syslog isn' t going to do much good. You' ll have to write some scripts to gleen any useful information out of it. Or spend the big bucks on the FortiReporter. Afterthought: If you are familiar with Linux C programing, you might be able to modify SARG to parse and analize your logs for you. Enjoy...
