Question

Fortinet 60f

Currently, the FortiGate 60F is experiencing an inconvenience when there is an electrical power outage and the equipment starts operating using the UPS.

When the power change is produced, the FortiGate apparently falls down and stops allowing network traffic, both incoming and outgoing.

The way it has been used to restore the service is to physically disconnect the FortiGate and reconnect it to electrical power. After carrying out this procedure, the equipment normally starts correctly and allows network traffic again.

However, on one occasion the FortiGate did not start correctly even after disconnecting and connecting it again, which increases concern about the cause of the problem.

Based on the description, it appears that the UPS switchover results in an ungraceful power interruption to the FortiGate, which can lead to system inconsistencies, file corruption, or unexpected behavior. I would recommend investigating the power infrastructure and identifying why the UPS switchover is not providing seamless power continuity.

Currently, the FortiGate 60F is experiencing an issue when a power outage occurs and the device switches to UPS power.

Upon the power source switch, the FortiGate apparently hangs and stops allowing network traffic—both inbound and outbound.

The method used so far to restore service is essentially to disconnect the FortiGate and reconnect it to the power supply. After performing this procedure, the device typically boots up correctly and resumes allowing network traffic.

However, on one occasion, the FortiGate failed to boot correctly even after being disconnected and reconnected, raising concerns regarding the root cause of the problem.

I agree with Emirjon, this is probably a UPS issue.

I had the same issue a few days ago with a FortiGate 40F. I also use a UPS, and I don’t think the UPS was the problem because it was still powering the other equipment, including the FortiGate.”

How did you solve it? I have a 6 kW Eaton UPS, and I ran a test switching from mains power to the generator. I was in the data center, and nothing even flickered or shut down; the UPS kicked in for about 30 seconds, and then the system switched over to the generator.

And what if the interface is corrupted?
