FortiNAC behaviour while upgrading/down

Hello everyone,

I would like to know what's the network's behaviour when FortiNAC is down (unrecheable) or doing a firmware upgrade ?

Are the users stuck in the isolation VLAN or the behaviour is as if FortiNAC never existed ?

Is FNAC 7.2.7 version stable, or should I upgrade to the latest versions 7.6.x ?

BR,

Hi BH

When FNAC is down, there is no dynamic VLAN assignment/change anymore. It means you back to the ancient world where you set the port VLAN manually.

That also mean the current VLANs will just remain as is:

  • If a port was in prod VLAN because a Corp PC was plugged then it will remain in prod VLAN
  • If a port was in isolation for any reason then it will remain in isolation

That's why you have to worry about what should be the VLAN assignment of a port that is in idle state, and this depends on your productivity-security compromise.

Hello AEK,

Thank you so much for this detailled explanation.

What version would you suggest I upgrade to ? I currently run 7.2.7.

Hi BH

Regarding your last question, I think 7.2.9 is currently the most stable.

Currently 7.6 is at 7.6.5. I'm planing to use it in production very soon, especially if Emirjon confirms that we can use it in production (or should we wait for some extra patch levels?).
