FortiGate - Internal Virtual Server

Is it supported to create a virtual server on the same interface as the local servers?

Ex.

server 1 - 192.168.1.1

server 2 - 192.168.1.2

virtual server - 192.168.1.3 (server 1 and 2 are members)

Will an interface rule internal - internal work in this scenario?

Effectively using the FortiGate as a load balancer.

Yes, it should be possible. Please remember to enable NAT in the policy so that traffic from servers are returned back via FortiGate.
