Fortigate automated script execute backup - password encryption

Hi Guys,

on the fortigate 120G I have created a automated weekly backup to our TFTP server.

everything is working fine, my only concern is that the password is in plain text. is it possible to encrypt it? i have looked everywhere but can't find solution.

Fortigate 120G - running firmware 7.2.10

script :
execute backup config sftp E:\Backup-Netwerk/ROVPNFG/backup_%%log.devname%%_%%date%%.conf <server-IP> <username> <password>

Hi @Mudasar ,

If you are talking about the password in the command, I don't think that we can encrypt it in the command.

Like @Renante_Era said, if you are using an internal server, you may not have to use a password.

Did you use auto-script of automation stitch?

If the TFTP server is internal, you should be able to upload files on that without a password -- but depends on your TFTP server configuration.

Hi,

Yes i am using he Automation Sticht to do the backups, only the password of the user of TFTP server in the command line is in clear text after saving the script.

My question is how to encrypt that so it can't be seen.

If you are talking about the password in the command, I don't think that we can encrypt it in the command.

Like @Renante_Era said, if you are using an internal server, you may not have to use a password.

Yes i am talking about the password in the command i want to encrypt it so no one can read it after saving the script and using the automation sticht.

i find it very usefull that you can make automation on the fortigate that backup only gets triggered after making a configuration change.
