Exclude drive/folder

I am trying to exclude a drive av scan from my antivirus using Fortigate 5.2.3.  The end points don't allow user customization and I am using the CLI to configure the antivirus profile to have one set for my database servers.  So far I understand how to set the set-filter-type to pattern, but how do you define a pattern?  Also could I just put the d:\* to exclude the drive (or d:\temp\* to exclude the directory)?  Please show an example if you know or a screen shot of your commands.  Thank you.
