authentication code issues, only works with a push notification, code gives 'vpn error'

push notification from FortiAuthenticator / Forti identity Cloud ( FIC ) or FortiToken Mobile on the FGT?

maybe there’s a time token drift/difference and that’s why. what do the logs / debug say that the cause is ?

I'm not sure whether our company uses FortiAuthenticator, FortiIdentity Cloud or FortiToken Mobile directly on the FortiGate. I'll need to confirm that with IT.

Regarding token drift, I'm using the same FortiToken Mobile app and VPN account on both Macs. The six-digit code works perfectly on my newer Mac running Sequoia, but fails immediately after entering it on my older Mac running Monterey.

Both Macs are running FortiClient 7.4.8.1977. The older Mac worked fine before our company disabled push notifications and switched to manually entering codes.

I've checked the FortiClient logs. On the failing Mac, they show:

Auto FTM Push
Connection cancelled
POSIXErrorCode(rawValue: 89): Operation canceled
Login network error

On the working Mac, they show:

Ignore FTM push notification request.
Authentication passed
Login successful

There isn't an obvious invalid-token or time-drift error in the client logs, but I don't have access to the FortiGate server-side debug logs.

Could this still be token drift if the same token works on one Mac? Or does it suggest an issue with how FortiClient on Monterey handles manual OTP authentication?
