API reference for FortiOS

Am I right in assuming that we need to fork out a pricey subscription just to gain access to the documentation around the APIs that were introduced as a feature of 5.2.x?

 

Seems a bit odd - or if anyone knows where any documentation may be I'd appreciate the link :)  I've scoured the Internets the best I could :)
