Question

AI troubleshooting

Do you use any AI tools for troubleshooting problems with FG's? If so, which ones work best for you and in what situations?

I mean, for example, the approach in which you write: "hey, here are the logs, give me the next steps of troubleshooting to determine what is the cause and how to fix it."

If you are a Fortinet Partner, you can use FortiChatAI.

Does FortiChatAI actually do a good job with raw log files, or do you still have to clean them up first before pasting them in? I've been wanting to try it for troubleshooting but wasn't sure if it can really pinpoint the exact issue when things go wrong.

The cleaning depends basically on your data protection idea. Do the logs contain sensitive data? If you upload the logs to an AI vendor, the AI vendor can use them to train. Often the tools may not give you “here is the issue”, but you will need to give a good start on what the issue is, how it happens, when it happens and what logs you have.

It also depends on what logs you upload. One fnbamd debug is certainly easier to analyze (if the issue is even reflected in there) than a whole debug report consisting of 20 files. As you see, you will still have to analyze logs and do the start of troubleshooting - understand and pinpoint the issue. That is actually most of the work already; the logs help to understand what happens, not necessarily showing what the problem is.
