Troubleshooting Tip: FortiAnalyzer prompts 'command fail. Return code 256' when executing 'execute sensor list'

1. Ensure the affected FortiAnalyzer/FortiManager model comes with IPMI (The Intelligent Platform Management Interface).

3. Perform the troubleshooting steps below:
   1. Gracefully shut down the FortiAnalyzer. It is necessary to keep integrity of the file system and DB:

exec shutdown

2. Unplug power cords and follow the next step while all power cords are disconnected:
   • Press down the system power button (front-top-right) and hold it down for 30 seconds.
   • Release the power button (after 30sec)
   • Reconnect all power cords.
   • Power up the device by pressing the power button.

4. Once FortiAnalyzer boots up, run the command again.

exec sensor list

5. FortiAnalyzer should be able to display the output of 'exec sensor list'.
