Description

Unable to view controller GUI from a wireless client. Three ESS profiles were created and they were mapped to three different VLANs. GUI was not accessible from any wireless client connected to these ESSIDs.

Solution
STEPS TAKEN FOR TROUBLESHOOTING:

STEP 1: Logged on to controller through GUI and navigated to “Configuration” > “Devices” > “Controller”.

STEP 2: Turned ON the “Management By Wireless Station“feature here. Equivalent CLI command: meru(config)# management wireless

STEP 3: Web UI was accessible from the IP address of the VLAN interface.

STEP 4: Also created a new ESS profile configured for “No Tunnel“option. Wireless client connected to this SSID was able toaccess GUI from the management IP address.

RESOLUTION: GUI was accessible from wireless station.

ROOT CAUSE: Wireless Client was a part of a VLAN. It could not reach the management IP address of the controller as it was from a different subnet.
