Technical Tip: How to generate YouTube API Key

This article describes how to obtain the YouTube API key.

Scope

FortiGate v7.

Solution

1. Type on the Google bar 'console.cloud.google.com' and two options can be displayed:

• Option1: Select Accept and Continue:

• Option2: Select Accept and Continue, set country, accept service conditions, and select Accept and Continue:

2. Select 'Select a project'. A window will pop up and select 'new project'.

3. Set the project number (no special characters are allowed and Project ID cannot be charged after project creation), location (optional), and select 'Create'.

4. After the project is created, select the project:

5. Select API  and Services -> Library.

6.  Search and select 'YouTube Data API v3'.

7. Select 'Enable':

     8. After webpage redirection, on the left bar, select Credentials -> Create Credentials -> API key and obtain the API Key.

In the latest chrome version, once the API key option has been chosen, a slide window appears to allow adding the API name and adding the APIs that need to accessed using that key, as shown in the following image:

Choose the necessary needed API from the list from the drop-down menu:
