Troubleshooting Tip: Application server CPU spiking with HTTP Firewall enabled

This article describes how to resolve an issue where the application server CPU spikes with an HTTP Firewall enabled.


Scope

 

FortiNAC v7.x.

 

Solution

 

The dashboard may report the CPU repeatedly spiking to 80-90% on the application server.

Dashboard (which refreshes every 30 sec) They see the following cycle for the primary application server:

 

Workaround: Disable the HTTP rate limiting feature:

  • Navigate to System -> Settings -> Security Folder -> HTTP Rate Limiting.
  • Highlight the Appliance.
  • Select the 'HTTP Rate Limiting: Disable' button.

 

Solution: The Settings for the HTTP Rate Limiting firewall will soon be removed as of version 7.3.
