Technical Tip: System Update versus Operating System Update

Description

This article describes the difference between system and operating system updates.

Solution

System Update: Updates the FortiNAC application software.  The current version of software running on the appliance can be viewed in the Administration UI in the Dashboard Panel and User drill-down menu.

Operating System Update:  Updates the CentOS 7 Linux distribution on which the FortiNAC appliance runs.  The operating system information can be viewed upon login to the FortiNAC CLI. For details, see System information and descriptions.
