Description

This article describes issues with registration when the Unregistered Hosts Days Valid field is blank in the global Aging Settings.

Symptoms:

  • Null error when registering a rogue from the Hosts view
  • Device matches Device Profiling Rule but does not fully register
    • Host record shows the role specified in rule
    • Host record still a rogue

To view Aging Settings:

Version 8.x: System -> Settings -> User/Host Management -> Aging.

Version 9.x: Users & Hosts -> Settings -> Aging.

Example:
Unregistered Hosts:
Days Valid: <blank>   <--
Days Inactive: 7

Scope Versions: 8.8.11.1752, 9.1.5.0147, 9.2.2.0421
Solution

Workaround:

1) Configure a Days Valid value.

Example:
Unregistered Hosts:
Days Valid: 30 <--
Days Inactive: 60

2) Select 'Save Settings' to apply.

Hosts can now be registered.

If using Device Profiling rules, delete affected rogue records and run L2 poll to quickly rediscover devices.

Solution:  To be fixed in an upcoming release.
