Description

This article describes important things to note when upgrading through the Administration UI.

Scope

FortiNAC.

Solution

Note the following:

  • The upgrade procedure will restart NAC services.
  • The upgrade will not start if a system with certain customizations or fixes are in place that are not persistent through an upgrade.  In these cases, contact Support for assistance.
  • If any issues are encountered or assistance is preferred, contact Support to schedule the upgrade.

In preparation for the upgrade, download the appropriate code from the FTP site to the appliance.  This step makes the code available for the upgrade.   It does not start the actual upgrade process.

  1. Navigate to System -> Settings -> Updates -> System.  The Product Distribution Directory field contains the sub-directory for the product software files.  The sub-directory will vary depending on the agent version.
  2. Edit the Product Distribution Directory field with the appropriate sub-directory path.  Refer to the System Update Settings section of the Release Notes.
  3. Save the changes.
  4. Select the Download button.  This will display a list of available codes to use for the upgrade.

Once the code is downloaded, NAC is ready to be upgraded.  For complete details, refer to the 'Upgrade Instructions' section of the Release Notes.

Once the upgrade is complete, login to the UI and verify views such as Topology, Policy Configuration, etc look correct.  Some basic testing (such as registering a host and confirming it is moved to the correct VLAN) is also suggested.
