Technical Note: Operating system updates fail with errors

Description
Yum updates fail with any of the following messages:

[Errno 14] curl#56 - "Callback aborted"
Trying other mirror.



yum lock messages during upgrade to 8.8.0 or 8.8.1 (trying to install winbind and radiusd)



+ /bsc/campusMgr/bin/internal/install-winbind
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks
Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running as pid 29063.
Another app is currently holding the yum lock; waiting for it to exit...

Unable to install winbind

Unable to install radiusd


This can occur if some or all traffic is being blocked by a firewall.

Version: 8.x

Solution
Option 1:  Ensure all FTP traffic is allowed for the eth0 IP address of all appliances.

Option 2:  Change the transfer protocol to either HTTP or HTTPs.  For instructions, see CentOS updates reference manual in the Fortinet Document Library.
