Article

Description This article describes how to trainthe Bayesian databases for an alias.
Scope

FortiMail v2.0 or greater.

Solution

The Bayesian database can be trained for an alias email address of which the admin is a member.

Similarly to how the 'per-user' Bayesian database is trained for a non-alias email address, forward samples of spam and legitimate email to the Bayesian control email addresses.

However, instead of forwarding from the admin's email address, use the alias email address as the sender's 'From' email address.

For example, 'user1@example.com' might be a member of the alias 'group1@example.com', and receive some spam that was sent to that alias.

To train the 'per-user' Bayesian database for the alias, 'user 1' would forward the spam to 'learn-is-spam@example.com' using the sender email address 'group1@example.com'.
