Troubleshooting Tip: fnsysctl command returns Unknown action 0

Description

This article describes an issue where an 'Unknown action 0' message is seen after executing the 'fnsysctl' command.

Scope FortiGate.
Solution

This issue occurs when not logging into FortiGate as a super_admin user. To verify which admin account is logged in, refer to this article: Technical Tip: Multiple ways to list and disconnect administrators logged in to a FortiGate

 

In this example, a prof_admin user named 'test' was used to log in to FortiGate GUI.

To resolve this issue, log in to FortiGate as a super_admin user. Below is an example of a working fnsysctl command.
