Technical Tip: Reset FortiGate Authentication

Description The article describes resetting FortiGate authentication settings using CLI.
Scope

FortiGate v7.0 and above.

Solution

The following command is used to reset user authentication sessions (e.g., captive portal logins, firewall authentication, etc.)

 

diagnose firewall iprope resetauth

 

It is useful in situations where:

  • A user is stuck and cannot re-authenticate.
  • To force a logout of all or specific authenticated sessions.
  • Clear stale or invalid authentication records.

 

Clears all current user authentication sessions, forcing re-authentication.

     Troubleshooting login issues:

  • Forcing user re-login after policy or group changes

 

No reboot required. Takes effect immediately.
