Technical Tip: No system performance statistics logs

Description

 
This article describes that one cause of performance statistics logs not showing on the FortiGate or FortiAnalyzer under 'Log View' is that the feature is disabled.
 
The interval time must be set on the FortiGate to enable the feature and to generate the logs


Solution

 
The interval timer can be set from the FortiGate CLI:
 
config system global
    set sys-perf-log-interval <0-15>
end
 
Where:
 
0   : Disabled
1-15:  Time in minutes between logging. 5 is default value.
 

If the sys-perf-log-interval value has already been set but System performance statistics logs still cannot be seen under System Events, make sure that the Log location set is any of the following: Memory, FortiAnalyzer, or FortiGate Cloud. Note that the mentioned log is not recorded when the Log location is Disk.

FortiGates with VDOMs enabled, the perf-stats are only available under the 'root' vdom.
