Technical Tip: Resource Allocation for Decoy

The resource allocation for FortiDeceptor can be calculated as below:

• Allocating minimum two virtual CPUs plus the number of Deception VMs (each decoy requiring two vCPU) and a virtual memory 4GB plus 2GB for every Deception VM clone. This information is available in FortiDeceptor Datasheet.

Regarding the storage, it is recommended to use 1TB for the production environment.

The maximum limit for decoys is 20. However, the resource allocation for 5 and 8 decoys is as follows:

Example 1: For five decoys, allocate a minimum of 12vCPU and 14GB of virtual memory.

Example 2: For eight decoys, allocate a minimum of 18vCPU and 20GB of virtual memory.
