hello everyone,
I have noticed that the FortiAP U321EV if you force the power TX to the maximum power these do not deliver the desired power. We tried to static the power on the AP profile on the local AP but it doesn't work. We have upgraded FW from PU321E-v6.2-build0323 to PU321E-v7.0-build0031. But it still does not work. Has anyone had the same problem ?

Hello
It's important to note that forcing the power TX to the maximum power can also cause issues with interference and violate regulatory requirements, so it's generally not recommended unless absolutely necessary.
Hello Christian_89,
We encountered a strange situation. In this particular design we have enabled only the 5Ghz radio slo 2, and we have set the country/region IT which by European regulations states that on 5Ghz we can go to a maximum of 23dBm. We tried configuring the maximum power on both AP profile and physical AP. However if you look at the Wifi controller of the FortiGate you can see that the Operating TX Power parameter does not go to maximum. Taking the configuration from the AP we notice the following parameter :
txpwr cfg/oper/max : 23/16/16
it is as if it is configured l maximum power but decides not to work at maximum power. However, we have some APs with the same OS and configuration running at 23/23/23.
Hello everyone,
with the support of TAC Fortinet we have found a BUG. The BUG ID is : 0883512.
As soon as I have an update on the fix I will update you.
Hi @Razor_x ,
also our organization found the same buggy behavior.
May you provide any update on the bug 0883512?
thank you!
Hi.
According to the R&D ticket : 0883512
1) Check the ForitAP profile's auto-power-target setting which should not be empty.
# config wireless-controller wtp-profile
edit "FAP231F-Test"
config platform
set type 231F
set ddscan enable
end
set handoff-sta-thresh 55
set ap-country DK
set allowaccess https ssh snmp
set frequency-handoff enable
config radio-1
set band 802.11ax
set auto-power-level enable
set auto-power-high 25
set auto-power-low 6
set auto-power-target ''
set darrp enable
set vap-all manual
set vaps "FRDWLAN" "RD-GUEST"
set vap1 "FRDWLAN"
set vap2 "RD-GUEST"
set channel "1" "6" "11"unset t11aPgH3Q3uZe4v4HvAN7mkG8dauP/fDnhBkQvF7nR
end
config radio-2
set band 802.11ax,ac-only
set channel-bonding 40MHz
set auto-power-level enable
set auto-power-low 11
set auto-power-target ''-----------should not be empty. default is -70
set darrp enable
set vap-all manual
set vaps "FRDWLAN" "RD-GUEST"
set vap1 "FRDWLAN"
set vap2 "RD-GUEST"
set channel "36" "44" "52" "60" "100" "108" "116" "132"
end
config radio-3
set mode monitor
set wids-profile "default-wids-apscan-enabled"
FortiAP would only adjust power to lower value if other FortiAP can hear it high than -70 ( This is a default setting on AP profile where -70 is the value set on "set auto-power-target -70")
