SSL-VPN no longer works - firmware update needed?

Hello, I have a Fortigate-100 3.00-b0741(MR7 Patch 5). It' s unclear to me what the latest firmware available for my device is. Would a more recent version be likely to fix the SSL-VPN problems that have emerged with the newer versions of Windows and IE? Thanks! --Steve

Steve, It' s unclear from your post what issues you are running into but it is very true you are using a much older version of the FortiOS compared to the latest(5.2). I would recommend detailing the issues you are seeing specifically or potentially speak with your sales contact on updating the support for your device so you can get the latest firmware.

Fortigate 100 is limited to V3, MR7 P10. That' s a very old box... See here. In response to your question, no. Fortinet stopped working on the V3 line years ago, before the MS patches were issued. No patches have been made that address the newer security fixes in v3. Like Warren indicated, what are the issues you are seeing?

Thank you. The issue is that the SSL-VPN still works with IE8 under XP, bot no longer works for IE11 under Windows 8. In both cases, I get the certificate warning. When I proceed anyway under IE8/XP it functions properly. When I proceed anyway under IE11/Win8, I get " This page can' t be displayed" . I don' t seem to be restricting ActiveX in IE11/Win8. The Win8 machines are running Defender and the web-screener, but I' ve disabled both with the same results. Any ideas? Thanks again!

I just tested it with IE11 under Windows 7 and it doesn' t work there either. Any idea what changed between XP and Windows 7 and/or IE8 and IE11 that would prevent the SSL-VPN from working?

If you are using the older web interface, that hasn' t been supported in any version of IE since (I believe) IE 8. You need to use the stand alone version of the SSL client. Check the release notes for your version of firmware to see what browser versions are supported for the web interface.

You can download a new version of SSL stand alone client and try! Are you still running the Fortigate on V3? Why can' t we think to do a upgrade?
