Local User - Proxy Authentication

Hi,

I have a Fortigate proxy that is able to authenticate and give internet access to all my AD domain users.

It doesn't matter if I choose automatic or manual w10 proxy configuration, both work.

The problem is that I can't authenticate local users (non-AD domain) to have proxy access.

After trying to access a website, the browser shows a Windows Security pop-up with "Sign in to access this site - Authorization required by <<forticluster proxy address>> - Username box - Password box".

I tried local regular/admin username and AD regular/admin username, none of them work.

Both AD and non-AD users are on the same subnet, so both are under the same proxy policy.

Did someone experienced something like this before, or have a clue of what may be happening?

Thanks in advance.

Is the local users user group referenced in the proxy config? Can you show the authentication configuration you have in place right now?

Cheers,
Graham

Hi, I have already faced this problem once, a customer gave me access to his website to design a ski logo, but I had the same problem that I could not authenticate and a message from the windows system appeared. The customer solved this issue by distinguishing between AD and non-AD users, I hope this information will help you.

Bro, I understand everything, but comparing your situation with what the proxy master wrote is somehow inappropriate. I understand that the design of the ski logo is your job, but the fact is that your advice makes no sense, because in this situation, you need to do some recoding to distinguish between AD and non-AD users. Then it will make some sense.

I may be off-topic, but if you knew how many nerves I spent on that project, you would have known. I even had to visit a psychotherapist afterwards, so in general, how should a customer behave to bring an employee to such a state. I was terribly depressed, had very bad thoughts, the main one being that no one needed me, that I was a useless specialist and person. In short, my condition was not good, to put it mildly. So I'm sorry if I wrote a bit off topic.

Wow, my friend, I apologise to you, because I have had the same situations, I have repeatedly sought the services of a psychotherapist after work, by the way, I use the services of us.calmerry.com, they are professionals in their field, they return me to normal life very quickly, so I am very grateful to them for that. And who did you go to, it would be interesting to read what lessons you learnt and what experience you gained from these sessions.
