Hits for Active Sources

Hello Everyone, when i run the report " top 10 sites by hits for active sources or other reports source website total No. johnsmith gucci.com 818 johnsmith google.com.au 305 Considering i ran this report for the duration of 1 Day. 818 hits on the site seems very excessive. so how does the report come up with the no. 818 ? or in one day 308 to google ? As the boss wants to know how often a user hits a site, if i tell him 818 he to may think something is a miss ..

Hi, go to the log view and check the webfilter logs for gucci.com and google.com.au and you will see the accesses to sites. Also if I check the source code of gucci.com site you can see some javascript links to other sites like google, twitter etc. <script type=" text/javascript" src=" http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/swfobject/2.2/swfobject.js" ></script> <script type=" text/javascript" src=" http://platform.twitter.com/anywhere.js?id=338501758-87yS7gRbhOnf8aupaCYL7kmvfZD2dVa5gI1bw7Gs&v=1" ></script> I think (maybe I' m wrong) if you visit the site some scripts have to be loaded also, so you will probably see in the logs some google pages and twitter pages also. So it can give you some false data because the user didn' t ever visited these sites. Please somebody correct me if I am wrong.

And if you visit a webpage with " Like us on FB" , it will create a log entry for faccebook.com also. I tried to read all the entries (columns) in Traffic log but I couldn' t find anything usable to exclude these kinds of log in my report. This is negligible if you are running a bandwidth report, but if it is requests/sessions, these logs will have a count of 1 per record.
