7.4 Trial VM License?

When installing a 7.2 KVM VM image, I can log in with my fortinet account within the web interface to get a trial license.

When using a 7.4 KVM VM image, there is no login prompt within the web interface that allows me to activate a trial license. Also when trying to download the license via CLI, I only get the message "Failed to download VM license.", after providing username and password. The VM has internet access and the DNS config is okay. I've also checked that my VM is compliant with resource limits.

Are the trials licenses only valid for 7.2. or what could be the delta?

You can only have a maximum on 1 trial/evaluation license per FortiCare account.
