network printing

I have a web application for customers to order food & beverage items through a mobile app.

the web application is sitting on the DMZ segment.

printing of orders is to be done through printers in the LAN print/print server.

Can this work ?

DMZ web appication through tablets/smartphones -> LAN printer

normal printing protocols like smb, tcp/udp 137/138.

or can i do wireless printing

Certainly... assuming customers can get to the DMZ web app, you'll just need to allow your DMZ IP to your LAN printer IP over whatever protocols you need for your print server.

Wireless is irrelevant, unless wireless traffic doesn't go through the Firewall.

"I've faced a similar situation while managing a food-related web application. We had a menu system for customers, and printing orders was essential. What worked for us was setting up a secure connection between the DMZ and the LAN, using TCP/UDP protocols for printing. Wireless printing can also be an option if you ensure the right security measures are in place. If you're dealing with food ordering systems, you might find some inspiration from how Dairy Queen manages its menu and order flow: menu. It helped us streamline operations!"
