Scheduled Updates not working

We' re still in the testing phase of our Fortigate implementation. We have a Fortigate 300. It is currently set to update once per hour. However it doesn' t seem to be checking for updates at all. The update process works fine if I tell it to update now while logged into the https interface. But it never checks on it' s own. Any ideas? Thanks.

I think the unit needs registering before it can receive/get updates automatically. Travis.

What is the complete registration process? Maybe I' m missing something. I registered via the Fortinet support site. When I login it shows the serial # of our unit and our current support contract details. What else would I need to do? Thanks

thats all there is to registering. what version are you running ? getting logging working and check the logs, you should at least see a failure.

Depending on the firmware (all versions <MR9) you need to do a manual update of the version 4.287 of the antivirus. This SPECIFIC version contains the NEW digital certificate of fortinet used for secure communication between FGT unit and support site. Unless you manually install this virus definition no automatic update will ever work Get it from http://support.fortinet.com/certdownload.html Aslo you Fortigate needs to have access to the internet (it uses port 8890 to get updates). If you use it behind another firewall give it access to port 8890 before testing or use a proxy using this command set system autouopdate tunneling enable address 10.1.1.9 port 8080 to use a proxy (use your IP and port) push update require a real ip (or NAT) and port 9443 open.

I installed that new certificate when we first received the unit. I just upgraded from MR4 which is what was factory installed to MR9 and it seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks!
