Hi Guys,
New to the forum. I have recently purchased a FortiWifi 30E for home.
I would like some opinions and thoughts on what and how to set it up in the best way. For eg. Guest Wifi and Normal Wifi.
Would you make a captive portal for guests ? Just use WPA2 ?

It would be completely up to you, how you want to serve your wifi to your home guests. One thing we experienced with captive portal (w/ and FortiAP+FG60D controller) is when a smartphone goes into power save mode it needs to go to the portal again when it wakes up. WPA2 private seems to be automatic (the phone remembers the preshared password).
Thanks guys.
I think WiFi related I will do WPA2.
Just was asking if anyone had any specific things they would do. (Was thinking along the lines of preffering all my traffic lol and stopping people from doing updates
and better tick that remember device, so every device that connected to your forti will be recorded.
Additionally, configuring security features is key—enable firewalls and consider creating a separate VLAN for IoT devices to keep your primary devices safe from any potential IoT vulnerabilities. These simple adjustments can make your network more secure and user-friendly. And for an added touch of style, adding herringbone vinyl click flooring to your workspace can elevate the area, creating a sleek, modern environment that complements your professional-grade setup. Let us know if you need specific guidance on configurations, and good luck!
