Description This article describes the behavior behind the domain names not showing under FortiView Web Sites overview in the GUI.
Scope FortiGate.
Solution

To more easily and quickly check the logs on FortiGate devices, there are a few options that can be added under the Dashboard, such as FortiView Sources, FortiView Destinations, FortiView Web Sites etc.

This part of the GUI can be customized and more or fewer features can be added, depending on the requirements of each infrastructure.

When accessing FortiView Destinations, the domains are also shown and not only IP addresses:

But when accessing FortiView Web Sites page, there are cases where the IP addresses are shown only, and the domain names are not:

FortiView_No_Domain_Names .png

On different devices however, the view under FortiView Domain Names is as follows:

LAB_FortiView_Domain showing.PNG

The reason for this behavior is that the first device where the domains are not shown does not have a Log hard disk:

get system status

Log hard disk: Not available

However, the other device does:

get system status

Log hard disk: Available

In this case, this is an expected behavior. 'FortiView Web Sites' with domain resolution will appear only when FortiGate has disk logging enabled.

This is a FortiGate unit that does not have a disk to store the logs. As a result, it is unable to show the expected results when the FortiView data source is from FortiGate memory.
