Description

This article discusses the behavior where FortiNAC will not register or edit an existing device whose hostname contains spaces or special characters.

If an invalid character was used to edit or add a hostname to a host record, one of the following messages would display in the Administration UI:

"Failed to Save Host - null"
"Host Name contains characters that are not supported"

Scope CentOS 9.x, and NacOS F7.2+.
Solution Acceptable characters: Letters (A - Z), Numbers (0 - 9), and hyphen (-).
Spaces and all other characters should be avoided.
