Description

This article describes how to Setup SNMP Between FortiNAC and Network Monitoring Devices.

Scope

FortiNAC.

Solution

FortiNAC can be configured to respond to SNMP communication from other devices such as network monitoring equipment (e.g. Solarwinds).

SNMP MIB file that is used to communicate with FortiNAC can be found under:

/bsc/campusMgr/ui/runTime/docs/mibs/

The file can be exported or extracted from this path by using a SCP client (for ex. WinSCP).

Instructions:
  1. Go under System -> Settings.
  2. Expand the System Communication folder.
  3. Select SNMP from the tree.
  4. Select Enable and select an SNMP protocol.
  5. Enter the parameters as required for the selected protocol. (Note: Although Privacy Protocols AES-192 and AES-256 are listed as options in FortiNAC versions 8.1 and lower, they are not supported).

Select Save Settings.

IP addresses of any devices that have communicated with FortiNAC through SNMP will be populated automatically in the IP box under Management Hosts.
