  1. Confirm the contract of the FortiMail License including such services is active.

  2. FortiMail does not have any block to the FortiGuard server for the below TCP/UDP ports:
    Appendix C: Port Numbers

  3. After the previous steps are confirmed, apply the below command by CLI to force the License sync:

diag debug rating
exec reload urlfilter

Then check again the license Virus Outbreak and Antispam modules that should show 'active'.

If the previous steps do not show the licenses as 'active', follow the next:

  • Go to System -> FortiGuard.
  • Select the tab 'AntiSpam'.
  • Change the port in 'FortiGuard server port', from 53 to 8888, or vice versa.
  • Select 'Apply' to save the changes.
  • Select 'Update Now' to sync again the licenses with FortiGuard.
  • Review the status.

The licenses should be active now.
