Description This article describes regarding message in the system event log showing an inactive mailbox has been removed.
Scope FortiMail Gateway Mode with MSSP license.
Solution

Message at system event log showing inactive mailbox is removed as per below example.

This is because FortiMail is enabled for 'Mailbox accounting service' at FortiGuard -> Licensed Feature.

FortiMail will purge the inactive account automatically in gateway mode. This auto purge needs to fulfill the following conditions:

  1. Gateway mode.
  2. Enable 'Mailbox accounting service' (MSSP license).
  3. Inactive account which means the account is not updated in 60 days. (The 60 days here is hardcoded).

 

After the user enables the 'Mailbox accounting service', the first 30 days will not be purged. After 30 days, it will be purged if the account is not updated over 60 days (giving a buffer zone to the account). And the purging is scheduled for 3.00 AM every day.
