Description This article describes why Token transfers between mobile phones are grayed out or unavailable.
Scope
FortiToken Mobile.
Solution

Transferring FortiToken between mobile phones is only available if it is enabled on the FortiToken issuer.

The FortiToken can be issued from FortiGate, FortiAuthenticator, and FortiCloud, and only FortiAuthenticator and FortiCloud tokens can be transferred between mobiles.

Notes:

  • If a FortiToken is being migrated between administration devices, it is recommended to configure a secondary administrator account as a fail-safe in case the primary token becomes unavailable.
  • If the FortiToken is activated from FortiGate, the administrator must unassign the token from the user, then reassign it to generate a new QR code for the new device.

In this example, there are three mobile Tokens in the APP, but only two are available to transfer:

To verify the issuer.

FortiAuthenticator:

To enable the mobile token transfer option that is grayed out, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Authentication -> User Account Policies -> Tokens in the FortiAuthenticator interface.
  2. Enable the 'Enable token transfer feature' option.
  3. Save the changes.
  4. Once enabled, the mobile Token transfer option should no longer be grayed out, allowing users to securely transfer FortiToken Mobile Tokens from one mobile device to another.
