Solution
When replacing a FortiGate firewall due to hardware failure or upgrade, it is important to note that license transfers are only permitted between identical models. For instance, a license can be transferred from an old FortiGate FGT60ETK22XXXXX to a new FortiGate FGT60ETK342XXXX, provided both devices share the same model designation.
To facilitate the transfer, open a support ticket via the Fortinet Support Portal under 'Customer Service', and the Fortinet team will take care of this request accordingly.
