Description

This article describes how to provide The backup config, the exe tac report, and the FortiManager debug tool during a ticket creation when reporting a FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer issue. 

Scope

FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.

Solution

Backup config file:

  • Go to System Settings -> Dashboard -> System Information -> System Configuration -> Backup.
  • Download the backup config file and share it into the ticket with a password (if applicable).

  • Then enter a password to encrypt the backup (remember to communicate it in the ticket with the ticket owner).

TAC report.

 

Method 1:

  • For v7.4.3 and above: Navigate to the GUI -> Help icon (Top banner) -> FortiCare Debug Report -> Download the generated report.

  • In the FortiCloud version: Navigate to the GUI -> select Username (Top right) -> FortiCare Debug Report -> Download the generated report.

Method 2:

  • Use an SSH client like PuTTY or Teraterm to generate it:

 

execute tac report

 

 

Method 3:

  • Generate a TAC report by running the following command on an SSH session or using the CLI provided in the GUI:

  • Wait until the end of the command:

  • Save the generated file locally:

FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer debugger:

  • Use the Chrome extension to capture detailed debug information (screen recorder).
  • Download the Chrome extension.

 

Attach those 3 created files to the TAC ticket for faster resolution.
