Description

This article explains how to fix an issue where the time on FortiFone devices suddenly changes if they have daylight saving time enabled.

Scope

FortiFone devices with DST enabled.

Solution

FortiVoice time settings are configured on the FortiVoice system itself. This is not an issue with FortiFones. These settings are located under System -> Configuration -> Time.

To configure the correct time zone and disable DST on FortiFone phones, follow these steps:

1) First, ensure the configured time zone is correct under Phone Settings -> Location.

2) Set Default time zone to the correct country time zone.

3) If the above configuration was wrong and extensions were created afterwards, it's necessary to configure the correct time zone in each extension in the next steps.

4) Go to Extension -> Extension -> Preference -> edit the extension.

5) Under Display Preference select the correct time zone under Time zone:

6) If there is no DST in the country the phone is being used in, disable DST from the phone profile.

7) To do this, go to Phone System -> Profile -> Phone. If a custom profile was created for the phone model, select it and edit it. If not, edit the default profile.

8) Select 'Disabled' under DST type and select OK.

NOTE:

- After making configuration changes, the affected phones may reboot automatically. It is recommended to perform these steps during a period where the devices are not in use. If the phones did not reboot, it will be necessary to manually reboot them to receive the new configuration.

- The option to disable DST is available on all FortiFone profile models except FON-675i. This phone is an Android phone, which means DST can be disabled in the default software.
