Description

This article discusses the display behavior of Application Server keys listing a concurrent count of 0.

This is normal.

Scope
Solution

There are two keys:

Endpoint License Key.

- Defines the type of license (Base, Plus or Pro) and endpoint quantity.

- Defines the type of appliance (Manager, Control Server, Application. Server or CA).

- Installed on the appliance that is associated with license support (the 'managing' server such as the Control Manager, Control Server or CA).

Appliance (Base) License Key.

- Defines the type of appliance (Manager, Control Server, Application Server or CA).

- All hardware appliances are shipped with appliance key installed

- Appliance key(s) are installed on all VMs that do not have an endpoint license key applied.

In older systems that have separate Control Server and Application Servers, the concurrent count only applies to the Control Server.  Older license key files not generated from FortiCare displayed a concurrent count of 100 on the Application Server (regardless of actual concurrent count).

This was a display issue.  Concurrent counts do not apply to Application Servers.

Note.

- Separate Control and Application servers are no longer sold (End of Order in 2019).  For a listing of all EOO products, see https://support.fortinet.com/Information/ProductLifeCycle.aspx.

- Keys do not contain certificates. For details see related KB article 192245.
