Description

This article describes how to address the issue of missing 'FortiView Source Interfaces by Bytes' data in the logs, even when the wan1 interface is specified as the source.

Scope FortiGate.
Solution

This behavior occurs because FortiGate only logs traffic for interfaces explicitly defined as source interfaces in security policies. If wan1 is not set as the source interface within a specific policy, FortiView will not display any traffic for that interface.

To ensure that FortiView captures traffic data for wan1 or any other specific interface, verify the following:

Policy Configuration:

Go to Policy & Objects -> IPv4 Policy.
Check that the desired interface (e.g., wan1) is defined as the source interface in the relevant firewall policy.

Also, ensure logging is enabled for the policy to capture traffic details.
