Description

This article describes why the logs on FortiGate may show a different time compared to the logs displayed on FortiGate Cloud.

 

The time zone settings on FortiGate are configured locally, and these settings determine the timestamp reflected in the logs. If FortiGate Cloud is configured with a different time zone than the FortiGate, the logs viewed via FortiGate Cloud will display a different time, leading to potential confusion during log analysis.

Solution

The discrepancy occurs when the time zone settings on FortiGate and FortiGate Cloud are not aligned. FortiGate uses its local time zone settings, while FortiGate Cloud uses its own configured time zone. If these settings differ, the logs will display timestamps based on their respective time zones.

To align the time zone settings on FortiGate Cloud, follow these steps:

 

Log in to FortiCloud:

 

Access the FortiCloud portal and log in to FortiGate Cloud at FortiGate Cloud.

Navigate to Assets:


Once logged in, click on the Assets tab in the FortiGate Cloud dashboard.

 

Select the FortiGate Device:

 

Locate the FortiGate in question and check the corresponding box to select it for configuration.

 

Access Group Management:

 

From the drop-down menu, choose Group Management (as illustrated in the accompanying image).

 

Set Display Time Zone:


Click on Set Display Timezone, then choose the desired time zone to match the time zone settings on the FortiGate device.
